Charles Howard

lead pastor

I’m Charles Howard, pastor of SouthPointe Church. I was born and raised in southern Ohio. My wife, Jennifer, grew up in Whiteland. We met while in college and were married in June of 1997. We have three children: Harrison, Elli and Carson. Our family moved to Whiteland 14 years ago, compelled to establish a new church in our community.

Random Tid-Bits:

Travel :: I truly enjoy visiting new places. The sights, sounds, and smells of a different city, country and culture are my favorite. My most notable adventures have been to the Rocky Mountains in CO; Phoenix, AZ; Seattle, WA; Coastal Maine; Guatemala; Western Europe; & New York City.

Sports Teams :: Being from Cincinnati, I have a natural affinity for Ohio sports; Reds, Bengals, Bearcats and Buckeyes.

My Jam :: Thanks to Pandora I can listen to everything from Christian to movie soundtracks. Andrew Peterson is by far my favorite artist. However, I am a sucker for a monster ballad from the 80’s & 90’s!

Movies & TV Shows :: I'm much more of a movie person than a TV guy. Some of my all time favorites… Star Wars, Rudy, You’ve Got Mail, Silverado, Les Miserables... I also enjoy streaming shows off Netflix.

Books :: I prefer books that rattle my paradigm and challenge me to think. Functional reads - relationships, finance, parenting, disciplines, leadership - are very beneficial. I tend to gravitate towards non-fiction adventure books, although I really enjoyed Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. It’s been fun to read some of the classics with my kids.

Hobbies :: Hands-on learning, creating projects from salvaged materials, mountain biking, golf, softball, and coaching. I tend to refuel by being alone, but quality time with my wife and kids bring refreshment.

Bible Passage :: Philippians 1:20 & 21 "...according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
